Michael Lombardi of The National Football Post, with help from Rich Cimini of the News, reported a little over an hour ago that over achieving and hard working safety Jim Leonhard of the Baltimore Ravens seems likely to become a Jet later this week."While in Indy, I learned that all indications are that the Jets will sign Jim Leonhard, the safety from the Ravens, as soon as the free-agent market opens. This year, the Dolphins and the Jets will battle once again over a player, as reports from Indy suggest that both teams will “go to the mat” to obtain the services of Scott."
This would be a great move for Tannenbaum to make. The Jets are in dire need of another safety to line-up next to Kerry Rhodes, and Leonhard can fit immediately into Rex Ryan's defensive system which he played in last season as a Raven. Not to mention, he's the type of player New York fans can come to love. A gritty, hard-nose guy who may not have all the talent in the world, but competes with high intensity and 100% effort throughout the course of a game. As for the cap, Tannenbaum should be able to sign Leonhard at a relatively low cost.
