Coles to Cincinnati Likely

According to the Cincinnati Bengals website, the team is zeroing in on free agent wide receiver Laveranues Coles, and could sign him in the next day or so. After re-signing running back Cedric Benson, the wide receiver position became a priority.

After losing out on TJ Houshmandzadeh to Seattle, this would be a smart move by the Bengals. Coles would plug in the hole at second receiver opposite Chad "Ocho Cinco".

Although Coles is looking for a Housh-esque contract, he will likely need to settle on something much less.

Also, the Star-Ledger is reporting that the Jets deal for safety Jim Leonhard is for 3-years, $6 million, with $1 million guaranteed.

Really? If this report is accurate then the Leonhard signing is a steal at such a low cost. Leonhard will step in as starting free safety next to Kherry Rhodes, which is a definite upgrade from Smith and Elam, all while making what seems like "back-up worthy" money. Great move by Tannenbaum.
