The Associated Press is reporting that Giants GM Jerry Reese still has yet to rule out bringing wide receiver Plaxico Burress back to the team next season.It's a sticky situation for Big Blue because Burress is still facing illegal gun charges that could put him behind bars for 3 1/2 years if convicted.
As a Giants fan, there is no denying what Burress means to the team. If he doesn't shoot himself in the leg, the G-Men probably would have won their second consecutive NFC title, at the very least.
On the other hand, Plaxico has been given a number of opportunities. I'm not sure how much farther the he and the Giants can stay in this relationship. After begging for a new contract, the Giants finally gave it to Plax and he miserably failed them.
Plus, with T.J. Houshmanzadeh off to Seattle, the Giants options as a number-one target have diminished. I'm torn on the whole Plax issue because I love him as a player but he has done countless questionable things off the field to lose my respect. We'll see how the situation unfolds...
