Reyes Batting Third? Not Likely...

After the Dominican Republic was eliminated from the WBC earlier this week, Jose Reyes and Fernando Tatis are back in Port St. Lucie with the Mets.

Although Manager Jerry Manuel will still "tinker" with the team's batting lineup, Reyes will almost certainly end up batting leadoff come April. After all, that is where we can all agree he belongs, and feels more comfortable.

Prior to Reyes' departure for the Dominicana, Manuel had him batting third while Luis Castillo was batting in the lead off spot. Castillo and Reyes were actually relatively productive and effective in these roles, but the Mets are better off with Reyes leading off, where he will get more opportunities to steal bases.
